Who we are
Every issue of Birthing Magazine is information packed and is the result of the dedicated effort of our professional staff. With volunteer writers and photographers an original, educational and contemporary magazine is created. It is distributed to 10,000 families three times a year and viewed online around the world. We are grateful to all who contribute to the growing success of Birthing Magazine.
Editor In Chief
Kirsten Goa has been a leader in the Alberta birth, breastfeeding and parenting community for over a decade. She is passionate about creating a better world for our children and believes that parents, equipped with good information and support, are the experts about their babies. Kirsten's education includes a BA in History and English and a BEd After Degree. She is also an IBCLC or Registered Lactation Consultant. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart and they have five beloved children, including two sets of twins. She has an addiction to office supplies and is far more likely to check items off a list made with colouring markers.

Art and Production Director
Trish Agrell-Smith joined the Birthing Magazine team in October 2012 as our new Art and Production Director. She has almost a decade of graphic design experience alongside a deep interest in telling stories and a background in drama and English. Trusting her instincts over experts, Trish is parenting her two children from the heart and is deeply committed to supporting families in finding and trusting their own paths. Production on our last issue of Birthing started the moment she was hired and Trish created a stunning magazine in just a few weeks thanks to her focus, passion and energy. Her exacting eye for detail helps the proofing process go smoothly and her creativity in sourcing visual materials brings colour and life to our pages on a shoestring budget. We are very happy to have Trish on our team!
We are very excited to welcome Lindsay Ross to the Birthing Magazine team as our new Advertising Sales Director! Lindsay has been a friend of Birthing for years as a writer, advertiser and reader. She brings extensive marketing and business experience, strong connections in the parenting community and an insightful understanding of our readers’ needs. She hit the ground running for this issue and did an amazing job connecting with current and new advertisers. We are very grateful to have her passion, insight and energy as a part of our team!
Mimi has worked with Birth Unlimited since 2011 and brings incredible skills and dedication to her many tasks. She is a homeschooling mother of two children and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in private practice. In many ways, Mimi is the heartbeat of the organization, maintaining the rhythm and keeping the oxygen flowing! She manages our communication, distribution and finances, supports our Mom’s Night Out every month and handles many other tasks to keep us going. Knowledgeable and passionate about birth, breastfeeding and parenting, Mimi brings wisdom to all of her tasks. Her attention to detail helps us keep all our organizational ducks in a row and she creatively finds new solutions to old problems. She emulates grace when there is a job that needs doing, even if it’s outside her comfort zone. We are so grateful to have Mimi on our team!
